Charles Henley, RB
(5-10, 210, 4.6e) | Kansas
Drafted by: Kansas City, Pick 33, Round 5, Overall 163

Notes: "June" is short for Junior. Foster brother of Patriots' brilliant WR Terry Glenn. He was a four-sport athlete (football, basketball, track and tennis) in high school. Started four of the last five games of his freshman season in 1993, when he rushed for 1,127 yards and 12 touchdowns on 233 carries and caught eight passes for 53 yards. Had shoulder problems in '94, when he played in nine games, started three and carried 130-599-4 and caught 5-42. Started every game in '95 and was a second-team All-Big Eight pick, when he carried 158-766-8 and had 26 catches for 312 yards. Senior season was his best, as he carried 302-1,349-17, caught 22-215-1 and returned 12 kickoffs for 209 yards.

Positives: Tough, blocky, physical runner who has a knack for avoiding head-on hits. Good run skills and vision. Slashing type with good power. Finishes his runs, runs with good body lean and gets what is there. Can pick and slide, accelerate and cut. Not a big juker but is more elusive and skillful than you would think. Catches the ball nicely and lined up in the slot at times. Good athlete with excellent balance and body control. Has been productive.

Negatives: Lacks top-end speed. Is not that elusive. Has had a couple of off-the-field problems. Was arrested for petty larceny (shoplifting) in November '93 and for a DUI (Oct. 24, 1996) Got the chicken pox after the 1996 season and ballooned up to 234 pounds in February.

Summary: A good back who may lack the long-distance speed and elusiveness to be a top back. Solid, productive runner who can keep the chains moving and catch the ball.
